Educational Objectives

The POCUS Clinical Certifications are developed for practitioners to document and demonstrate their clinical proficiency. Each Clinical Certification consists of two core components: a clinical case-based assessment and a peer evaluation. Upon completion, the certification verifies that a clinician can perform and interpret ultrasound examinations within their scope of practice.

Candidates who earn a POCUS Clinical Certification have proven proficiency in:

  • Performing standard POCUS views.
  • Recognizing and identifying key anatomical features.
  • Identifying common sonographic artifacts and measurements that aid diagnosis.
  • Interpreting diagnostic findings accurately.
  • Recognizing and identifying common pathologies.
  • Knowing when a diagnosis is not possible or requires further imaging.

Assessment Components

Each POCUS Clinical Certification focuses on case-based learning and assessment. You will review real patient cases, evaluate ultrasound findings, and apply your diagnostic reasoning. The peer evaluation ensures that your image acquisition and interpretation skills meet recognized clinical standards.

Clinical Certifications are available across multiple specialties, including:

  • Cardiac Ultrasound
  • Lung and Pleural Ultrasound
